Maybe Mars is the leading independent record label in China promoting new Chinese rock music.
At the time there was no specific label and garage rock was not recognized as a separate genre, but critical recognition through the release of the the Nuggets compilation albums did much to define and memorialize the style. The term derives from the perception the groups were young amateurs who rehearsed in their family garage, although many were professionals and never played in a garage at all.
A noisy, ethereal form of rock that usually focuses on self-deprecating lyrics and melody-driven distortion guitars. Usually the vocals are slurred and unintelligible.
Psychedelic rock is a style of rock music that is inspired or influenced by psychedelic culture and attempts to replicate and enhance the mind-altering experiences of psychedelic drugs. It often uses new recording techniques and effects and draws on non-Western sources such as the ragas and drones of Indian music.
