Falco invented German rap. Rock Me Amadeus and his sprechgesang in Manhattan-Schonbrunn-German, a mixture of English and Hochwienerisch, even the US charts. Long before it was rapped in this country, it took its reputation with its provocative nature, its penchant for excessive parties and the boycott by the mainstream of a generation of German rappers. Falco tragically crashed in a car accident. Twenty years later, Die for Life is Falco's first collabo album, bringing him together with his contemporary colleagues. On Die um Leben, the high-caratists find todays German rap artists, who are often ignored and boycotted by the major media, even though they speak the language of the youth and have been determining the German music market for years. Kontra K, Sido, Sun Diego, Ali As and Co have not only re-recorded Falcos songs, but with their energy and their sound in their very own way brought to the now. Pop artists would probably just have taken over the texts of Falco and nachgesungen but each of the rapper of this production has made a Falco song own: with great spirit and special lyrics describes Robert Ponger, Falco composer and producer of the first hour. Something completely new has developed - an album that continues Falcos uncompromising life's work 20 years after his death.
