NOW Music proudly presents the fifth addition to our 80s dancefloor vinyl compilation series: NOW That's What I Call 80s Dancefloor: PURE POP - Out August 16th! Spanning 2 LPs, this outstanding collection captures the best of 1980s dancefloor and delivers pure, unadulterated fun straight from your turntable - and is pressed in fabulous pink and blue vinyl.
LP1 side A opens with a string of classics produced by Stock, Aitken and Waterman - Bananarama's 'I Heard A Rumour' kicks things off, followed by Mel & Kim's debut 'Showing Out (Get Fresh At The Weekend)', Rick Astley's mega-hit 'Never Gonna Give You Up', which still gets dancefloors shaking around the world today, and a lesser-known Kylie Minogue song 'Made In Heaven'. Debbie Gibson's "Shake Your Love" keeps the energy high, while the rest of the first side is taken from the great movies of the 80s: Ray Parker Jr's "Ghostbusters" is featured along with two tracks from the legendary "Footloose" soundtrack; Deniece Williams' "Let's Hear It For The Boy" and Kenny Loggins with the electrifying title track "Footloose".
LP1 side B opens with Whitney Houston's powerful vocals on 'So Emotional', which segues into the celebratory 'I'm Coming Out' by Diana Ross, before Boogie Box High take the lead with their funky rendition of 'Jive Talkin''. Miami Sound Machine's 'Conga!' and DeBarge's 'Rhythm Of The Night' bring a Latin disco flavor to the proceedings, while the smooth disco of Shalamar's 'I Can Make You Feel Good' leads to the LP1 closing of Five Star with their slick and irresistible 'Can't Wait Another Minute'.
LP2 side A opens with Blondie's genre-bending 'Rapture' and segues into the catchy pure pop of Kim Wilde's 'You Came' and Laura Branigan's anthemic 'Gloria'. The hi-NRG pop of Tight Fit's 'Fantasy Island' and Dollar's cover of 'O L'amour' make way for the big genre-defining hits of Hazell Dean's 'Who's Leaving Who' and 'Toy Boy' by Sinitta. The side closes with a #1 dancefloor classic, "You'll Never Stop Me Loving You", the chart debut from Sonia.
LP2 side B celebrates some of the biggest Euro-pop hits of the decade, including Ryan Paris' "Dolce Vita", Baltimora's "Tarzan Boy", the London Boys with "London Nights", Modern Talking's "Brother Louie" and Spagna's "Call Me". The collection closes with a trio of UK-produced disco-floor fillers and guaranteed party favorites - The Nolans' "I'm In The Mood For Dancing" and Kelly Marie's "Feels Like I'm In Love" offer pure pop joy, culminating in Liquid Gold's rollicking "Dance Yourself Dizzy".
