The sampler ZYX Italo Disco New Generation stands like no other for new and modern Italo Disco titles. While at the beginning of this series in 2012 a large number of the productions came from a few countries, we are now receiving songs from almost every continent. This proves that Italo Disco will continue to have a large worldwide fan base in 2020! Vol. 17 also offers an interesting mix between 80s Italo Disco icons like Savage, Grant Miller, K.B. Caps, Linda Jo Rizzo, P.Lion and current artists like
Italove, Mode One, Electric City Cowboys, Also Playable Mono.
Generally, Italo-Disco consists of English pop vocals over mid-tempo, heavily synthetic disco or hybrid disco-electro rhythms, with emphasized lead synths. It was mostly produced by Italians in the mid-1980s. This style/scene is said to have been named by ZYX Records boss Bernhard Mikulski to market licensed releases and numerous compilations, although not always strictly Italian productions.
