Chaka Khan: Real Name: Yvette Marie Stevens: Born, Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Illinois, U.S.A., Chaka Khan was raised on Chicagos South Side, and at the age of 11 formed her first group, the Crystalettes. While still in high school, she joined the Affro-Arts Theater, a group which toured with Motown great Mary Wells; a few years later, she adopted the African name Chaka Khan while working on the Black Panthers' breakfast program.
Originally a quartet, 702 consisted of the Grinstead sisters, Identical twins Irish and Orish, and LeMisha with their cousin Amelia Cruz. Amelia and Orish left the group and was replaced by Kameelah Williams. Kameelah left to pursue a solo career and was briefly replaced by Cree Lamore until she returned to the group in 2003. Kameelah again left the group and was replaced by Orish.
Joyce Sims is an American singer-songwriter, whose biggest hit single, Come into My Life, reached the top 10 in both the US Billboard R&B Chart and the UK Singles Chart. Sims continues to tour internationally as well as make a number of club appearances, due to her songs broad appeal to lovers of the R&B, dance and garage music genres.
