NRJ (pronounced energie) is a French radio station owned by the NRJ Group, the largest radio group in the world. NRJ is active in Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia), Bulgaria, Germany, Finland, France (also active in Réunion, New Caledonia, Mayotte, French Guiana, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Tahiti), Lebanon, Norway, Austria, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland. The youth channel appeared in Paris in 1981 and expanded into new channels in the following years. In the beginning, NRJ was an acronym for "Nouvelle radio jeunesse", meaning new youthdradio, but now stands for the French" energy", also pronounced as energy. In the 21st century, NRJ went beyond Europe and launched web radio, web TV and its own television stations. The main target group of NRJ is young people aged between 15 and 35. The station only broadcasts current hits and new music, with rare songs from a few years ago. So this is a CHR station with a small playlist of about 40 songs. Their slogan is"only hit music".
