The last WOW Worship to come out was WOW Worship (Lime) and while that still gets a healthy rotation in our house, I have been wishing that WOW would come out with another worship edition. Well, WOW 2018 is not a worship compilation but it sure leans heavily that direction. I love it. I mean, the lead-off track is What A Beautiful Name by Hillsong Worship! WOW indeed!
I guess I haven't noticed the trend over the last couple of years of contemporary Christian music leaning more towards worship. Many of the songs on WOW 2018 are technically CCM but function as worship songs as well. Thy Will by Hillary Scott & The Scott Family, The Lion And The Lamb by Big Daddy Weave, King Of The World by Natalie Grant and Let Your Glory Fall by Kari Jobe are just a few, and that's just from disc 1. Many of the other tracks like Great Are You Lord by One Sonic Society, Glorious Day (Radio Version) [feat. Kristian Stanfill] by Passion and O Come To The Altar by Elevation Worship are just straight up worship tunes. It's great to see some of the most popular artists on Christian radio being so bold and unrestrained in proclaiming their love for Jesus.
Of course, a lot of the songs here are more straight-ahead rock/pop/CCM tracks and those are great too. One of the things I really love about these WOW compilations is the overall variety. As always, WOW delivers a great selection of current Christian hits and some deeper tracks that has great replayability. If you are fan of Christian rock/pop/worship then you really can't go wrong with WOW 2018.
