Dusk Recordings inaugural compilation, Dusk Volume One, is a love letter from California. Nocturnal fixtures of the West Coast underground scene align in the contrast of vivid and subdued sonic textures that interplay amidst a marine layer haze and rhythmic waves on the Pacific horizon. This narrative journey of tracks paints an image of vessels cruising through the cosmos to dock at deep house islands. All tracks were commissioned, conceived and produced during a global pandemic as a way to stay connected locally, and now globally, upon its release.
Masha, Jeniluv & Heidi Lawden launch the new imprint Dusk Recordings. Building on their alignment as the DJ collective Surround, who host and DJ some of Los Angeles’ finest warehouse parties, the trio also co-founded Dusk Camp, a three-day music and art camp-out in California. The new label is inspired by the same principles as the events; freedom and independence represented by the renegade DIY warehouse parties in LA. The intersection of empowerment and expression, of light and shadow, of sun and moon—these dualities are the essence of Dusk, a thriving platform for radical inclusivity balanced by the chill vibe inherent to California.
