In the turmoil of our times, “Earth” is a musical inspiration towards a realm of light and hope. Full of inviting warmth, the 14 songs allow a return to what is essential and unifying in life. Carefully crafted from the enormous wide-ranging collection of previous works, the 20th Lemongrass album blossoms as an organic fusion with great lightness and elasticity.
Roland Voss aka Lemongrass is drawing inspiration from what surrounds him, forming a weightless amalgamation of organic sounds, garbed in shimmering electronica. Stylistic influences range from Jazz-tinged rhythms, profound Ambience up to Modern Classical. Nevertheless, the album remains primarily true to the Lemongrass roots. Firmly anchored with the familiar crisp-rolling grooves and drums, decorated with acoustic finesse and buttery harmonies, an exquisite Lounge sound is taking shape. Some beats carry elements of “Trap Music” – a Hip Hop subgenre – thus contribute a futuristic touch, without ever taking away the album’s laid-back mood.
Russian singer Jane Maximova is the only musical guest on “Earth”. Her velvety vocals fit into the flow of the album effortlessly, adding another splash of colour. As so often before, “Earth” reflects again the sensitive talent, that has turned Lemongrass and Roland Voss into a symbol for well-groomed, masterly sound.
This “Earth” journey is a blessing.
