American Road Trip' is a new three CD boxset of mostly rock anthems spawned from bands and singers born and bred in the USA, and is the strongest compilation of it's kind in recent years. Rather bizarrely, there are four bands on here who are in fact British, Manfred Mann, Fleetwood Mac, Rainbow and Whitesnake, although they have made much impact stateside as well. There are 59 tracks in total, all of which are the original recordings, and generally it's a very familiar selection. If you like classic rock music, mostly from the Eighties, then the majority is stuff that you already know very well, and probably own on many other collections anyway. Nevertheless, these tunes are mostly timeless and great fun, and if you are still looking for you're first mammoth collection of this genre, then this is better than many. There are still a few hits in between the really big ones which aren't quite as familiar, but as this is a commercial set for sure, there aren't that many, and all can be found the third disc.
