For the summer an excellent NOW Thats What I Call Classic Soul gathered a lot of excellent data from the performers, the most different musical direction!
In the Midnight Hour is a song originally performed by Wilson Pickett and released on his album of the same name, also appearing on the album The Exciting Wilson Pickett. Sittin On The Dock of the Bay is a song co-written by soul singer Otis Redding and guitarist Steve Cropper. It was recorded by Redding twice, including once just days before his death in a plane crash.What Becomes of the Brokenhearted is a hit single recorded by Jimmy Ruffin and released on Motown Records Soul label in the summer. It is a ballad, with lead singer Jimmy Ruffin recalling the pain that befalls the brokenhearted, who had love that's now departed. The song essentially deals with the struggle to overcome sadness while seeking a new relationship after the passing of a loved one.
