Baby Huey & the Babysitters was a soul band hailing from Gary, Indiana. The band, was the idea of organist / trumpeter Melvyn Jones and guitarist Johnny Ross. James Ramey was their front man, and he adopted the stage name of Baby Huey. They were well known on the club scene in Chicago. Cissy Strut is a funk instrumental by The Meters. The Meters recorded a follow-up, Sophisticated Cissy, which was included on the same album. Going Back to My Roots is a song by Lamont Dozier. Cover versions by Odyssey, FPI Project, and Linda Clifford have entered the UK Singles Chart, with the FPI Project version charting in other European markets as well. Originally an album track discussing genealogy, the song was written for the African-American market and touches on the matters of self-identity, family, and soul fulfillment. It has appeared on assorted compilation albums.
