Written by Gaye and James Nyx Jr., the song depicts the ghettos and bleak economic situations of inner-city America, and the emotional effects these have on inhabitants. Come Rain or Come Shine is a popular music song written by Harold Arlen, who composed the music, and Johnny Mercer, who wrote the lyrics. A Song for You is a song written and originally recorded by rock singer and pianist Leon Russell for his first solo album Leon Russell, which was released on Shelter Records. A slow, pained plea for forgiveness and understanding from an estranged lover, the tune is one of Russell's best-known compositions.
